The device consists of a lock on an inner door panel, and a grip on an outer panel (3). A non-deformable support block (8) is fastened to the inner panel (2) of the door (1), on the same height as the outer grip (6,7) and projecting towards it. A bearing part (6) for the grip arrangement located on the inside of the outer panel, has a support element (7), which acts with the support block during a collision. The support block has an end stop surface, which is aligned so that a downward directed movement component is applied to the bearing part and the outer panel during a collision.
