Process for preparing a polymeric reaction product by reacting, in the aqueous phase, a radical convertible monomer in the presence of a radical initiator and an unsaturated aromatic hydrocarbon compound of formula (I). Process for preparing a reaction product (A) which includes a step of reacting under radical conditions a reaction mixture comprising at least one radical convertible monomer (a) in the presence of at least one radical initiator and a compound of formula (I).
