The windscreen cleaning method has a cleaning medium delivered to the surface of the windscreen (1) when the automobile is not in use, e.g. overnight, with removal of the cleaning medium after a timed interval, in accordance with a cleaning cycle initiated by a control device, activated by the driver before leaving the vehicle (2). An Independent claim for an automobile windscreen cleaning device is also included.
