The double fourdrinier section is at a papermaking machine, where the pulp delivered from the stock inlet (10) travels on a lower (12) continuous fourdrinier for a short stretch before being covered by an upper continuous fourdrinier. The breast roller (16) of the lower fourdrinier (12) is an open roller which, at its highest point (A), is near the upper surface of the lower lip (11) of the stock inlet (10). The vertical plane (A-B) through the center axis of the breast roller (16) is at a gap (s) from the gap (10b) between the stock inlet lips, so that the pulp flow stream from the stock inlet is aligned in the direction of the fourdrinier or at a small beating angle against either the breast roller (16) or a point on the fourdrinier (12) behind the breast roller (16). The height difference ( DELTA h) between the upper surface of the lower stock inlet lip (11) and the highest point (A) of the breast roller (16) is selected, between 0-10 mm, so that the pulp flow stream from the stock inlet arrives at the fourdrinier in an angle of 0-3 deg . The horizontal gap (s) between the vertical plane (A-B) through the breast roller (16) center axis and the stock inlet lip opening (10b) is 150-250 mm. The lower fourdrinier (12) has a path length of 0.7-3.0 m before being covered by the upper fourdrinier.
