The elevator cabin (1) has an illumination arrangement for normal operation and an emergency illumination arrangement. The interior of the cabin has phosphorescent surfaces (9,11) or components (10) at suitable points as an emergency illumination arrangement. The alarm operating elements (12,13,15) in the cabin are coated with phosphorescent material or consist of materials with phosphorescent additives.
