A sensor arrangement, for detecting the presence of an object such as a human hand, in the aperture of a powered window, sunroof or the like includes a balanced transmission line 31,32 associated with the aperture. The transmission line is fed with microwave frequency signals from an oscillator 10, which signals are modulated with signals from an oscillator 61, via a balun 62. Signals received from the transmission line 31,32 are filtered by a filter 95 to isolate signals at the modulation frequency, and the resulting signal is subsequently applied to a window comparator 98. A detection signal is provided when an object is detected near to the transmission line 31,32. The detection signal is used to control the powered window, sunroof etc. accordingly. <IMAGE> |
