PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition well-suited as a packaging material and a container material that can retain the freshness of a variety of food products or the like and can be expected to extend a period of time appropriate for retaining freshness by incorporating an olefin polymer as a base polymer, a trehalose and an inorganic filler into the composition. SOLUTION: An olefin polymer includes not only a homopolymer of a polyolefin such as a poly(α-olefin), a polyvinyl aromatic compound or the like but also a copolymer and a blend thereof and, furthermore, may include a blend of a biodegradable polymer (e.g. a starch or a polycaprolactone) therewith. A trehalose is used as a component for retaining freshness and, for example,α,α-trehalose is used. An inorganic filler is used as an agent for adjusting a gas permeability, and a silica, a talc or the like is used. Generally, 0.01-50 pts.wt. trehalose and 0.01-50 pts.wt. inorganic filler are blended, based on 100 pts.wt. base polymer.
