PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition which has excellent adhesivity to substrates, holds high weather resistance, and is useful for coatings used for protecting timbers, metals, plastics, and the like by adding a specific vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer and an epoxy-based plasticizer. SOLUTION: This resin composition comprises a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate- based copolymer copolymerized with an unsaturated carboxylic acid such as maleic acid and/or an acid anhydride such as maleic acid preferably in an amount of 0.1-5 wt.% and an epoxy-based plasticizer such as epoxidized soybean oil preferably in an amount of 0.5-30 wt.%. The vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate- based copolymer contains the vinyl chloride and the vinyl acetate in amounts of 50-90 wt.% and 50-10 wt.%, respectively. The resin composition may contain a plasticizer such as a phthalic acid derivative in addition to the epoxy-based plasticizer.
