PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pump shell for a torque converter allowing as large as possible reduction of production man-hours and a cost, and allowing securing of product performance. SOLUTION: This pump shell 2 for a torque converter has a hollow cylindrical boss part 2a and a shell part 2b radially extending outward from the periphery of the boss part 2a. The pump shell 2 is attached to rotate together with a front cover, and is provided with pump blades on the inner circumferential face of the shell part 2b. The boss part 2a is formed by roll forming a first flat plate 13 and a second flat plate 14 having a smaller area than the first flat plate 13 with the plates 13, 14 overlapped each other. The shell part 2b is formed by roll forming only the first flat plate 13.
