PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin having a high refractive index, high degree of transparency and good color tone by polymerizing and curing an episulfide compound having a specific epithio structure in the presence of a polymerization catalyst such as an ammonium salt or the like. SOLUTION: The objective resin is obtained by polymerizing and curing 100 pts.wt. of a composition containing preferably >=10 wt.% of an episulfide compound having >=1 epithio structures expressed by the formula [R1 is a 1-10C hydrocarbon; R2 to R4 are each a 1-10C hydrocarbon or H; Y is O, S, Se or the like; (n) and (m) are each 0 or 1] in the presence of 0.001-3.0 pts.wt. of at least one species of polymerization catalysts selected from a group comprising quaternary ammonium salts, quaternary phosphonium salts, tertiary sulfonium salts and secondary iodonium salts. As the compound of the formula, an organic compound having an epithio group [e.g. 1,1-bis(epithioethyl)methane and the likes], an organic compound having an epithioalkyloxy group and the likes are cited.
