PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability and flexibility as an excitation device by vibrating a piston at a desired cycle while keeping it within a designated reciprocation range. SOLUTION: The rod 15 of a piston 12 vibrating in a casing 1 is provided with a small-diameter shaft part 24, and the small-diameter shaft part 24 and a proximity sensor 26 constitute a position detecting part 23 for detecting the position of a piston or the like. An inverting circuit 35 outputs a rectangular wave signal inverted when a timer signal is outputted from a counter 30 or when a detection signal is outputted from the proximity sensor 26 to a driver circuit 36 to drive a selector valve 17. Thus, the piston 12 can be vibrated in a desired cycle by a cycle setting switch 31 while being kept within a reciprocation range corresponding to the length of the small-diameter shaft part 24.
