PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a reduction of machining time of electrode, a shortening of a machining time of a mold and an economical advantage by manufacturing an electrode for preparing a mold having a complex three-dimensional free curved surface with an electric discharge machine incorporating a polarity- convertible electrode in relation to a computer command system not depending on a cutting work by a machine tool. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a computer-controlled electric discharged machining electrode incorporating a polarity-convertible electrode and a device for carrying out the method, an electrode 1 of a predetermined size is constituted by bundling an electrode material of which a sectional are has a geometrical continuous shape and which is covered with an insulation material. Each electrode material is related to a picture element of a personal computer picture and a current flows in the electrode material corresponding to a set portion by imparting a command to the set portion of a figure indicated on the personal computer picture. The polarity of the electrode 1 is convertible at every machining stage.
