PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ESR measuring method capable of simply measuring a large sample such as an organism and provide an ESR measuring device integrally miniaturizing a resonator, a main magnet and a magnetic field modulating coil and capable of utilizing it as a free radical detection probe head. SOLUTION: This measuring device measures the electron spin resonance of a sample by using the electromagnetic wave magnetic field component parallel with the plane formed by the loop of a resonator. The measuring device is at least constituted of the resonator, a main magnet capable of giving the static magnetic field in the direction perpendicular to the plane formed by the loop of the resonator, and a magnetic field modulating coil capable of giving the modulating magnetic field in the direction perpendicular to the plane formed by the loop of the resonator.
