PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To objectively measure a drying degree, and to obtain a highly reliable inspection result without depending on experience by providing a projecting optical system to eyes to be examined, a reflected light detecting optical system having a detecting element of the reflected light by a lacrimal layer of a cornea conjunctiva surface and a measuring means of the drying degree of a cornea on the basis of a change with the lapse of time of the detecting reflected light. SOLUTION: After starting measurement, an operation control means 20 detects the appearance of a dry spot by a reflected light quantity difference from eyes to be examined on the basis of an image signal outputted from a CCD camera 10 to obtain a change with the lapse of time of the area. A lacrimal layer on a cornea is gradually crushed when continuing opening of an eyelid, and it appears as a dry spot. Since quantity of reflected light of the dry spot is extremely reduced to the lacrimal layer, when a certain area value is set to the degree of this difference, an area of the dry spot can be detected. For example, area ratio data of a dry spot area to a predetermined cornea area is determined as a result of a drying degree. The operation control means 20 stores the area ratio data with every prescribed time interval.
