PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for cultivating plants aiming at utilizing the ability of soil microorganisms to decompose and metabolize organic substances, the ability of the soil microorganisms to feed plant essential minor elements, the ability of the soil microorganisms to antagonize plant pathogenic microbes and the ability of soil to immobilize the plants, automatically and sanitarily feeding a necessary amount of a fertilizer component required for the growth of the plants at a required time and enabling the cultivation in a small area such as the interior of a room, a veranda-like porch, a bay window, a veranda or a garden. SOLUTION: This apparatus 1 is obtained by providing a drainboard 2 having a mesh without passing earth and sand at a position of about 1/3 of the depth of a cultivation vessel 1 from the bottom thereof, superimposing a layer of a water-permeable material 4 thereon and further superimposing a culture soil 5 on the layer, installing a pump installation cylinder 6 hollow from the bottom of the cultivation vessel 1 to the topmost part thereof, connecting a pump 7 to a program timer 8, feeding a liquid fertilizer from the pump 7 through a water feed pipe 9 and a water release pipe 10 to plants according to a program inputted to the timer 8, then filtering the liquid fertilizer through a layer of a penetrant and the drainboard 2, recovering the liquid fertilizer in a water layer part 3 and further circulating the liquid fertilizer. Thereby, organic combination is carried out to construct the apparatus 1 for automatically cultivating the plants. As a result, the cultivation of the plants can automatically and sanitarily be conducted in a small area such as the interior of a room, a veranda-like porch, a bow window, a veranda or a garden.
