摘要 PURPOSE: A method for allocating a channel by using duplex queue in an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) switching system, is provided to perform stable transceiving for important data using upper queue though congestion is generated by excessive traffic of general data, by setting upper queue transceiving data related to signaling and routing important to operate the ATM switching system and lower queue transceiving general data, to be divided. CONSTITUTION: A method for allocating a channel by using duplex queue in an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) switching system, comprises the steps of: selecting queue corresponding according to port numbers and virtual path identical/virtual circuit identical(VPI/VCI) information to allocate a predetermined channel; allocating an initial predetermined channel by supply of channel allocating information including a selected queue kind; storing the channel allocating information in a control memory; confirming the corresponding kind of queue from the control memory by using the VPI/VCI information included the supplied data; and performing transceiving of the data through the predetermined channel using upper or lower queue according to the confirming result.
