PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate can efficiently and economically be produced without causing the deterioration, etc., of properties of a distillation bottom by using a specific anion exchange resin excellent in thermal and chemical stabilities as a catalyst. SOLUTION: An anion exchange resin containing a recurring unit represented by the formula (A denotes a 3-8C straight-chain alkylene group; R1, R2 and R3 denote each a 1-4C hydrocarbon group or a 1-4C alkanol group which may be substituted with hydroxyl group; X- denotes a counterion coordinated at the ammonium group) as a constituent element is used as a catalyst when reacting (meth)acrylic acid with an alkylene oxide and producing a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate.
