PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding material capable of molding a molding having a light weight and a high strength with high yield and a method for molding it. SOLUTION: The reinforcing fiber-filled molding material is formed by covering a bundle of reinforcing fibers 1 uniformly with a resin layer 2 so that two surfaces of at least lengthwise direction are flat surfaces 3 in a short or long shape. The method for manufacturing it comprises the steps of heating a predetermined amount of the molding material, temporarily molding it, filling the temporarily molded material in a mold, heating it, and pressure molding it. Thus, the molding having a light weight like a safety shoe toe and a high strength can be obtained with a high yield.
