PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound having physiological activities simply and at a low cost by adding a base to a cultured liquid of a radicicol-producing bacterium for adjusting pH, adsorbing the radicicol to a synthetic adsorbent, then eluting the adsorbed material with an organic solvent, or the like, and neutralizing the eluted liquid. SOLUTION: This method for producing radicicol comprises adding a base to a cultured liquid obtained by culturing a radicicol-producing bacterium (e.g.; Penicillium luteo-aurantium) for adjusting pH of the cultured liquid at pH >=7.0, adsorbing a radicicol base adduct salt contained in the cultured liquid with a synthetic adsorbent consisting of the nonionic porous resin, or the like, then eluting the base adduct salt with an organic solvent or a water-containing organic solvent, neutralizing the eluate for converting the base adduct salt contained in the eluate to a free radicicol to obtain the objective radicicol expressed by the formula, which is a physiologically active substance having pharmacological activities such as antifungal, anticancer, angiogenesis inhibitory and immunosuppressive activities simply and also in an industrial scale. |
