PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the composition to exhibit excellent rust preventing effect particularly on ferrous metal by allowing it to contain a specified compsn. of benzothiazolyl-thiocarboxylic compds., alkanolamines, molybdic acid or the salt thereof. SOLUTION: This composition contains benzothiazolyl thiocarboxylic compds. (A) expressed by the formula, alkanolamines (B) and one or more kinds among molybdic acid, its alkali metallic salt and ammonium salt thereof (C). In the formula, R denotes either amino group or methyl group, (n) denotes the integers of 0 to 2, X denotes the dihydric group of 0 to 5C straight chain or branched saturated or unsaturated aliphatics or the dihydric group of 6 to 10C aromatics, and Y denotes hydrogen atom, an alkali metal or ammonium. Then, to 1 molar ratio of the component A, the molar ratio of the component B lies in the range of 1.5 to 3.5. Moreover, preferably, as to the compositional ratio of each component, to the whole, by weight, 0.1 to 72% component A, 0.1 to 74% component B, and 0.01 to 8% component C are preferable.
