PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of improving dispersibility of an inorganic powder in a dispersion medium and capable of exhibiting an excellent ultraviolet light-shielding effect, or the like, by compounding the inorganic powder and a specific polyether-modified silicone. SOLUTION: This inorganic powder-containing composition contains (A) an inorganic powder (for example, titanium oxide, zinc oxide, aluminum oxide, barium sulfate and iron oxide) and (B) a polyether-modified silicone of the formula [(a) is 1-5; (b) is 1-6; (c) is 0-10; (m) is 40-500; (n) is 1-60; R is H or a 1-5C alkyl]. The component B preferably has an HLB(hydrophilic-lipophilic balance) factor of 1 or more but less than 2. A silicone which is liquid or semi-solid pasty at an ordinary temperature is preferably used as a dispersing medium for the composition. The composition preferably contains the component A, component B and the dispersing medium, in amounts of 10-90 pts.wt., 0.2-30 pts.wt., and 10-90 pts.wt., respectively. The composition is suitable for a cosmetic preparation, such as a skin color-improving agent, a shielding agent and an ultraviolet light-resisting skin protective agent.
