PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the scorching of a molding material and to shorten the heating time thereof while preventing the deformation and shrinkage thereof at molding a thermoplastic material to be used for a core material of a car door. SOLUTION: A molding material 3 wherein a thermoplastic resin is mixed with a fibrous material is thermally compressed by the upper and lower hot plates 6c, 6d of a press apparatus 6 through sheet belts 5A, 5B to be plasticized. Both upper and rear surfaces of the molding material 3 are cooled by cooling rolls 8A, 8B while held between the sheet belts 5A, 5B to be semi-cured. The molding material 3 is separated from the sheet belts 5A, 5B to prepare a thermoplastic material 7 which is cooled and compressed to be cured. By this constitution, the plasticization of the molding material 3 is performed in such a state that the whole of the molding material is held between the upper and lower hot plates 6c, 6d of the press apparatus 6 to be uniformly and directly heated. The preparation of the thermoplastic material 7 is performed so that the thermoplastic resin of both upper and rear surfaces of the molding material 3 is separated from the sheet belts 5A, 5B in a semi-cured state.
