PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure sufficient electrical conductivity and gas permeability by the prevention of the adhesion of waterdrops, on at least a part of the surfaces of electrically conductive particles or electrically conductive porous bodies, by using a silane compd. having hydrocarbon chains or fluorocarbon chains and forming a water repellant layer. SOLUTION: The surfaces of electrically conductive particles of carbon or the like or electrically conductive porous bodies of porous nickel or the like are brought into contact with a silane compd. having at least one kind of hydrocarbon chains and fluorocarbon chains, and they are chemically bonded to form a water repellant layer. As the silane compd., a compd. having a hydrolyzable group such as halogen is used to compose a chemical adsorption monomolecular film. Moreover, desirably, the carbon number of hydrocarbon is about 8 to 18, and the carbon number of fluorocarbon is about 6 to 10. In this way, a water repellant electrically conductive material combining gas permeability and electrical conductivity and suitable for the components of an electrode in a fuel battery or the like can be obtd. |
