PURPOSE: An adaptive cruise control of a vehicle is provided to perform ACC(adaptive cruise control) for a predetermined time even if a driver steps on an acceleration pedal for the alteration of a traffic lane while an ACC mode is performed in a vehicle with an ACC mode. CONSTITUTION: An ECU(electronic control unit)(2) decides if an ACC mode establishment key(8) is turned on after a traffic lane alteration mode is established. The ECU decides if a driver cancels the establishment of the ACC mode optionally. If the ACC mode establishment key is turned off, a normal travel mode is established. Otherwise, the ECU decides if a deceleration pedal is driven. If not, the ECU decides if a turn signal light control switch(12) is turned on. If the turn signal light is turned off, the ECU decides if an acceleration pedal is driven. If not, a vehicle is operated by the ACC mode. Otherwise, the vehicle is operated by a hold mode after storing a current time(To) in an internal memory.
