PURPOSE: A mask assembly for a cathode ray tube is to prevent a doming of a shadow mask, particularly, a partial doming, thereby preventing a lowering of a quality of image and reinforcing a strength of the shadow mask. CONSTITUTION: A mask assembly for a cathode ray tube comprises a shadow mask(20) which has a plurality of beam passing holes and divides and lands electron beam to a corresponding fluorescent material, a mask frame(30) which is weld to a peripheral of the shadow mask to support the shadow mask, a plurality of spring members which are interposed between the mask frame and a stud pin buried in a panel and fixes the mask frame to the panel. A radius of curvature of a long side of the shadow mask is formed to be larger than or the same as 4500mm but less than or the same as 5500mm. A radius of curvature of a short side of the shadow mask is formed to be larger than or the same as 1500mm but less than or the same as 2500mm.
