PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for backing up the data of a memory semiconductor card are provided to prevent the loss of data in case that a memory card is separated or power is off by an emergency situation while using a nonvolatile memory semiconductor. CONSTITUTION: A state that a memory card is separated or power is off by an emergency situation while using a nonvolatile memory semiconductor is to be detected. A memory operation is normally to be stopped using the battery or capacitor in the card. With the resupply of power, the operation is normally started. Accordingly, by detecting the state that the memory card is separated or power is off due to an accidental situation, the loss of data and the damage of equipments can be prevented.
