PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel compound that has the cyclic guanosine phosphate- specific phosphodiesterase inhibitory action and is useful for treatment and alleviation of cardiovascular disturbances such as thrombosis, angina angitis, hypertension, cardiac insufficiency, arteriosclerosis and the like or asthma and the like. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I R1 is a (substituted) lower alkyl, a (substituted) cycloalkyl or the like; R2, R3 are each H, a (substituted) lower alkyl, a (substituted) benzocycloalkenyl or the like; X is O, S; Y is OR4 [R4 is a (substituted) lower alkyl, a (substituted) bicycloalkyl], SR [R is a (substituted) lower alkyl or the like] or the like}, typically 6-(4- ethoxycarbonylpiperidino)-3-ethyl-8-(4-piperidylmethylamino)-2,3-dihyd ro-1H- imidazo[4,5-g]quinazoline-2-thione. The compound of formula I in the case where X is S is obtained by allowing a compound of formula II to react with a thiocarbonylation reagent, for example, N,N'-thiocarbonyl-diimidazole, thiophosgene or carbon disulfide in an inert solvent followed by cyclization.
