PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the operability by calculating the number of copies of a desired data which can be made using the residual quantity of ink and notifying the calculation results to a user. SOLUTION: A printer 30 can transmit the information of the residual quantity of ink in an ink cartridge 3 detected by a residual quantity of ink sensor 5 to a host computer 31 through a network 100. The host computer 31 determines information of the quantity of ink required for printing a specified number of copies, and only one copy, of a print data transmitted to the printer 30 based on print condition information inputted from an input section 15. Subsequently, the host computer 31 calculate information of the number of copied printable through the printer 30 based on the information of the quantity of ink required for printing one copy, and the information of the quantity of residual ink transmitted from the printer 30 and display at a display device 14. |
