PURPOSE: A system for expanding a communication network is provided to efficiently use a signaling point by using a frontal switch as the signaling point to connect many intelligent peripheral devices with a public network. CONSTITUTION: A system for expanding a communication network comprises a public network(30), intelligent peripheral devices(32a,32n), and a frontal switch(31). The public network transmits information such as voices or data. The intelligent peripheral devices accumulate and manage the information. The frontal switch connected to the public network signals an optional call inputted from the public network. The frontal switch decides an intelligent peripheral device for servicing the call, and distributes the call to the corresponding intelligent peripheral device. The frontal switch and the intelligent peripheral devices are connected to a local area network(LAN).
