PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method for producing a photocatalyst effectively exhibiting the function even in visible ray region without using a special equipment such as an ion implantation device. SOLUTION: Cations are incorporated in a semiconductor by bringing a catalyst containing the cations such as Cr, V, Fe and Mn which are different from the components of the semiconductor into contact with the surface of the semiconductor such as titanium oxide. Next, the semiconductor containing the cations is heated in a reducing atmosphere to obtain the visible ray response type photocatalyst. |
