PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the joining and adjusting of a substrate material and its supporting members, to improve the stability of the substrate material during construction and after construction, and to reduce the price of the substrate material and construction costs. SOLUTION: A structure for supporting a substrate material 11 is formed of fixing pieces 21b for fixing substrate material supporting materials 12 and 13 to a top end or an earthen floor and supporting pieces 21a with at least two surfaces approximately vertically raised from the fixing piece 21b and arranged for supporting the end part of a substrate material 11. Then the supporting pieces 21a of the substrate supporting materials 12 and 13 are each fitted in and fixed to the top end-side end part and the earthen end-side end part of the substrate material 11, and the fixing pieces 21b of the substrate supporting materials 12 and 13 are each fixed to the top end and the earthen floor by fixing devices.
