PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and industrially producing a sulfate radical-containing basic aluminum chloride having a high basicity. SOLUTION: In this method for producing sulfate radical-containing aluminum chloride having high basicity from aluminum hydroxide as a raw material, a mixed acid of hydrochloric acid and sulfate is used, the temperature/time of the first reaction is 100-140 deg.C/0.5-5 hours, the temperature/time of the second reaction is 150-180 deg.C/1-6 hours and the two-stage reaction between the mixed acid and aluminum hydroxide is continuously carried out.
