PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize multiple-column printing by simple constitution. SOLUTION: A host computer transmits data to be printed through a plurality of the logic channels CH1-CHn set to a communication path CN. A printer 11 receives the data from the respective logic channels independently to store them in the input buffers 13 provided corresponding to the logic channels. When the data quantity stored in each of the input buffers 13 reaches predetermined data quantity, for example, the data quantity corresponding to band height, printing is started. Therefore, multiple column printing can be executed without performing the image of the whole of a page related to multiple column printing on both sides of the host computer 1 and the printer 11.
