PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method in which the waste water containing an org. halogen compd., a cationic metal ion having a reducing property and a reductive material such as anionic metal ion belonging to group III-XV in periodic table and having the reducing property is efficiently treated by a simple treating operation and a reductive material concn. in the waste water is effectively reduced in a short time. SOLUTION: In this treating method of a soln. containing the reductive material, the soln. containing the org. halogen compd., the cationic metal ion having the reducing property and the soln. containing at least one kind reductive material selected from a group consisting of the anionic metal ion belonging to group III-XV in periodic table and having the reducing property is brought into contact with iron based metal.
