PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treating method for stably, efficiently and economically treating waste water containing a high concentration of urea type nitrogen. SOLUTION: This treatment of the nitrogen-containing waste water, consists of a hydrolysis process by which the waste water containing the urea type nitrogen is heated and hydrolyzed to make it to the waste water containing ammonium ions and carbonate ions and/or bicarbonate ions, and a separation process by which the ammonium ions and the carbonate ions and/or the bicarbonate ions in the waste water are separated to ammonia and gaseous CO2, and the gaseous CO2 is charged in the hydrolysis process.
