PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing method and a washing device which is sanitary and capable of executing washing operation easily, speedily and economically by filling and fumigating high temp. steam at the inside and outside of a water tank in the washing of a drinking water tank. SOLUTION: The washing device is constituted by a supply pipe 5 having a discharge port 4 inside the center of a sealing cover 3 of a size capable of being set to an entrance, an exit manhole 2 provided at the upper part of a water tank main body 1 and a sealing plug 7 for closing an air discharge pipe 6 provided at the other part of the water tank main body 1 in a pair.
