PURPOSE: A method for controlling receipt of a remote control signal of an air conditioner is provided to maximize the accuracy of the receipt of the remote control signal by receiving only normal remote control signal with ignoring a noise pulse generated by an inverter fluorescent light, thereby prevent erroneous movement. CONSTITUTION: In an air conditioner having a microcomputer and a remote control, a method for controlling receipt of a remote control signal of the air conditioner includes the steps of recognizing the generation period of a remote control signal applied from the remote control and the generation period of a noise pulse applied from the outside in the microcomputer(S22), determining whether the generation period of the noise pulse is in accord with the generation period of the remote control, controlling operation of the air conditioner by receiving the remote control signal if the generation period of the noise pulse is in accord with the generation period remote control signal(S24,S31), and if not, determining as an error and returning to a first routine(S33).
