PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling load current of an air conditioner is provided to minimize the volume of a product and reduce the manufacturing costs by controlling load with low current. CONSTITUTION: In an air conditioner having a microcomputer(10), the apparatus for controlling load current of the air conditioner includes a relay(20) including a transistor(Q11), an exciting coil(R12), and a contact point(20a) for driving load according to a control signal of the microcomputer, and a load current controlling part(40) connected with an exciting coil of the relay for controlling current which flows in the exciting coil as a minimum current of a regular level to maintain the contact point of the relay as on-state after first load driving.
