PURPOSE: A telephone for transmitting text messages through a cableway network is provided, so that general telephone users can transceive the text messages and receive originator displaying services supplied from a backbone network, by transceiving the text messages through a cableway network. CONSTITUTION: A telephone for transmitting text messages through a cableway network comprises a receiver(1), an originator displayer(2), a transmitter(3), a controller(4), a storage(5), a voice calling circuit(6), a text message inputting circuit(7), and a liquid crystal display(LCD)(8). The receiver receives a voice signal and a text message through the cableway network, and transmits the voice signal to the voice calling circuit to perform a voice calling function. The receiver transmits decoded data to the controller, if the text message is received. The data is processed with specific formats to store in the storage. The text message is displayed in the LCD. The text message inputting circuit displays text messages in the LCD, and stores the text messages in the storage to make the text messages stand by. A keypad of the text message inputting circuit is converted into an input mode to be transmitted to the controller. The controller delivers a dual tone multi frequency(DTMF) signal to the cableway network. The data of the text message is transmitted to the transmitter. The transmitter converts the text message into an analog signal to deliver the analog signal to the cableway network. The originator displayer receives originator data of a backbone network to transmit the data to the controller. The data is decoded as formats to be stored in the storage, and is transmitted to the LCD to display originator information.
