PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retainer made of magnesium suitable for a rolling bearing for high speed rotation. SOLUTION: High strength can be obtained by using magnesium alloy having fine crystal grains with a grain size of 5μm or less, and the magnesium alloy becomes high speed superplasticity so that mass-production is enabled by press forming. The magnesium alloy is subjected to surface treatment by a stable anodic oxide film or the like so as to remarkably improve corrosion-resistance, whereby galvanic corrosion can be prevented to be practicable. This retainer made of a magnesium alloy is extra light as compared with the conventional retainer made of the other metal, so that centrifugal force applied during high speed rotation can be reduced, and wear resistance of a bearing can be improved. The vibration damping performance of the retainer made of a magnesium alloy is more excellent than that of the conventional retainer, so that damping performance can be improved, and vibration caused by repeated motion and intermittent motion can be absorbed and dissipated to decrease noise and also lengthen the mechanical life.
