PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new heterodimer type protein which has the activity to inhibit the differentiation and/or maturation of fat cells, therefore is useful in medicinal compositions or the like aiming prophylactic and/or therapy of obesity, and is formed from adipogenesis inhibitory factor(ADIF) and stanniocalcin(STC). SOLUTION: This heterodimer type protein has N-terminated amino acid sequences indicated by formulas I and II and the activity to inhibit the differentiation and/or maturation of fat cells. This protein is obtained by sticking human fibroblast [preferably human fetus lung fibroblast IMR-90 (ATCC deposit-trust number CCL186)] to a piece of alumina ceramic, utilizing Dulbecco modified Eagle medium to which neonatal bovine serum is added as a culture solution, culturing stationarily in a roller bottle or the like for a period of preferably about one week to 10 days, treating the culture solution preferably with a heparin column, SP.cation-exchange column and/or the like in this order and then isolating and refining the above protein. |
