PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the seizure caused by the thermal expansion of a rotary shaft and to improve the performance and the reliability of a multistage turbo compressor using a gas bearing. SOLUTION: The impellers 15, 75 at low stage side and high stage side are respectrively attached to both ends of a rotary shaft 13. First and second inlet passages 141, 142 are mounted for distributing the intake coolant from an intake pipe 130. The blow passages 50a, 50a for blowing the intake coolant of low temperature to the neighborhood of the herringbone grooves 35, 95 of the rotary shaft 13 forming a gas bearing between the static side journal bearings 31, 33 are connected to the inlet passages 141, 142. A groove 53 for heat radiation, is formed on an outer peripheral surface of the rotary shaft 13.
