PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production process for light-weight fabric constituted with spun yarns having excellent hollow part retention. SOLUTION: Spun yarns of a sheath-core structure in which water-soluble yarn, for example, poly(vinyl alcohol) yarn is arranged to the core part, while staple fiber group including binder fiber A is arranged to the sheath part are woven or knitted to a fabric. The resultant fabric is subjected to dry-heat treatment at a temperature higher than the melting point of the binder component in the binding fiber A and to hot-water treatment with boiling water or with the water higher than the boiling point of water.
