PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain biotin that is a necessary vitamin for human, animals, plants and microorganisms in a good efficiency using by culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus Sphingomonas, within a specific oxygen transfer capacity coefficient range in a fermentation method using the microorganism. SOLUTION: This method for producing biotin comprises inoculating a microorganism belonging to the Sphingomonas (e.g.; Sphingomonas sp-SC42405/pSP304) into a medium, performing a shaking culture at 30 deg.C overnight, then adding the cultured liquid into a jar fermenter filled with a proper culturing medium, performing a ventilated and agitating culture at 30 deg.C for 5 days within 0.5-2.5 min-1 range KLa (oxygen transferring capacity coefficient) to obtain the objective biotin which is one of vitamins necessary for human, animals, plants and certain kind of microorganism in a good efficiency by a fermentation method.
