PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously drive a wire cut type electric discharge machine by additionally feeding a novel wire even if a wire cut is caused and to prevent a material waste that a residual amount of unused wire is disposed without being used in the wire cut type electric discharge machine. SOLUTION: This electric discharge device is provided with a wire joining device 3 in the upstream of a feeding route of a wire A; a stock portion 2 of a preliminary wire; a switching device 5 for positioning in series the preliminary wire A at a rear end of the wire A used between the stock portion 2 and the wire joining device 3 at the time when a residual amount of the wire A used becomes a predetermined length L or less; and a wire joining device in which each of the rear end and the front end thus positioned is abutted to a predetermined position and clamped and the rear end and the front end are abutted and joined at a clamped state.
