COATING COMPOSITION AND DOUBLE-LAYERED COATING FILM FORMING METHOD USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a whitish coating compsn. mainly using a titanium oxide pigment, excellent in concealability and reduced in metal gloss feeling and a double-layered coating film having characteristics of the coating compsn. SOLUTION: The coating compsn. contains 50-200 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of a resin solid of a pigment compsn. containing at least 80% by wt. of the total pigment of (A) a rutile type titanium oxide pigment and (B) a scaly aluminum powder with a mean particle size of 10-30μm in total in an (A)/(B) wt. ratio of 300/1-100/1 and 5-20 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the total resin solid of (C) a cellulose acetate butylate resin. A double-layered coating film is formed by coating a substrate with the coating compsn. to form at least one base coat layer and coating the base coat layer with at least one layer of a transparent topcoating without baking the base coat layer and simultaneously baking both coating films.
