PURPOSE: A method for controlling transmission output in a satellite earth station, is provided to compensate an output delivered through an antenna, by controlling a variable attenuator inside an upper converting device when the beacon signal level is under a predetermined reference, and to continuously monitor a beacon signal level of a satellite antenna without a control equipment of transmission output. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling transmission output in a satellite earth station having a variable attenuator in a transmission terminal, comprises the steps of: calculating a difference between a reference level and a beacon signal level, when a present beacon signal level inputted through an antenna is under an optional reference level, in a state that an error in software is not generated; calculating compensation regulating width if the difference is in a state compensating transmission power, and calculating an attenuation value to be compensated by using the compensation regulating width; controlling the variable attenuator by regulating a presently set attenuation value to the attenuation value to be compensated, when the attenuation value to be compensated is bigger than a set minimum attenuation value; and informing excess for a margin of a power control compensating function and the attenuation value to be compensated is designated as the minimum attenuation value, when the compensation regulating width is bigger than permission and the attenuation value to be compensated is smaller than the minimum attenuation value.
