PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely and easily fix a pin to a locker arm while securing the rigidity of the rocker arm in a valve system for an internal combustion engine in which a strut for supporting a roller engages an engaging hole formed at the rocker arm and the pin fixed to the rocker arm is inserted into an engaging groove extending along a tangent direction of a virtual circle on the axis of the strut and being formed at the outer surface of the strut. SOLUTION: A rocker arm 19 is provided with an insertion hole 44 linearly extending toward the inner surface of an engaging hole 372 at a position corresponding to an engaging groove 50 of a strut 41. A pin 47 inserted into the insertion hole 44 and engaging the engaging groove 50 engages the rocker arm 19 by caulking at least one end thereof by means of flat punches 82, 83, to be thus fixed to the rocker arm 19.
