PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having an ethoxycarbonyl or methoxycarboyl group, and having excellent insecticidal, miticidal and nematocidal efficacies and high safety to mammals, therefore useful as an active ingredient of insecticides, miticides and nematocides. SOLUTION: This new compound is a compound of formula I (R1 is ethoxycarbonyl or methoxycarbonyl; R2 is methoxymethyl when R1 is ethoxycarbonyl, being ethoxymethyl or methoxymethyl when R1 is methoxycarbonyl), e.g. 3-dichlorofluoromethylsulfenyl-1-(2,6-dichloro-4- trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-[N-ethoxycarbonyl-N-(ethoxymethyl)amino]-1,2, 4-triazole. The compound of formula I is obtained by reaction between a compound of formula II and a compound of the formula X-R21 (R21 is methoxymethyl or the like; X is an eliminable group) pref. in a solvent in the presence of a base, at -5 to 150 deg.C for 1-24 h.
