PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic composition having high controlling effect on any kind of bacteria, fungi, yeasts, or the like, causing the microbial contamination of cosmetic, scarcely influenced by the physical property and chemical composition of the cosmetic and having excellent safety. SOLUTION: A cosmetic composition having high controlling effect on any kind of bacteria, fungi, yeasts, or the like, causing the microbial contamination of cosmetic and free from the influence of the physical property and chemical composition of the cosmetic is produced by compounding a polylysine and a dihydric alcohol. The cosmetic composition has excellent safety because high antiseptic effect can be imparted by the addition of a relatively small amount of the additive.
